In Memoriam of Lila Fakhraie

The Financial Data Exchange is deeply saddened by the loss this weekend of one of our most fervent champions and thought leaders, Lila Fakhraie of Wells Fargo.

Lila had the vision early on of what FDX could do for consumers and businesses in this space and worked tirelessly to ‘herd the cats’ to work toward the founding of FDX and was key in its rapid growth since inception.

Lila was elected to be one of the first two co-chairs of FDX in 2018 and served on a number of committees to help drive this non-profit forward – where she continued to serve until illness prevented that.

“Lila and I shared a common vision of how consumers could be empowered to use their data, which led to working together to found FDX. She has been such a positive influence on the organization, which reflects her nature and her ability to put everyone at ease. I am proud of our partnership, but I am more grateful for her kindness and friendship.”
- Steve Smith, Finicity CEO and FDX Co-Chair

Lila’s professional career spanned many years, including household names like AT&T, Oracle, and over 20 combined years with Wells Fargo, where she was promoted last year to Senior Vice President of Digital Banking and APIs.

“We like to say how FDX has the level of maturity to have difficult conversations and do so politely, professionally, and (most importantly) productively. This culture was due in large part to Lila’s wisdom, steady leadership and demeanor.” – Don Cardinal, Managing Director FDX

Lila was liked and respected across the Open Banking ecosystem and her passion for serving others will be sorely missed.

In lieu of flowers, FDX is coordinating a joint donation to Feeding America, a charity that Lila mentioned in her last wishes. The current goal is to raise $25,000 in Lila's name, please use this link to learn more and donate.
